Judgment:

the basic facts of this case were that a terrible challenge was put in on the goalkeeper’s knee The goalkeeper’s knee then went into another player’s head and this caused a brain injury. The jury found the defendant in this case guilty of a criminal offence, Justice Bramwell gave the jury this direction, ‘No-one has the right to use force which was likely to injure another, and if he did use such force and death resulted, the crime of manslaughter had been committed.’
