Rule of thumb: What is the test for contempt of Court? The test is broad, but an unsavoury incident which leads to a significant delay in proceedings, or causes a risk to proceedings being delayed, will generally be considered to be contempt.

Judgment:

The Court held in this case that the basic test for contempt of Court, ‘An avoidable and quite possibly serious delay in the due dispatch of the Court’s business’, Lord Cameron (public disorder)
